It all started with a text from his pregnant wife. In the text she expressed her cravings for the “special cookies.”

Perry Hall of Maryland said, “I already knew which kind and where to get them because there is only one store where I know they are sold. That turned out to be a life-changing shopping trip.”

Hall was finishing up a shift at a Baltimore auto shop when he got the message to pick up the cookies before coming home. Hall stopped at a local Food Lion grocery, bought the cookies, then saw another customer buying a $10 Cash Club scratch-off ticket, and decided to buy one too.

A fortuitous decision.

Later that evening, watching TV with his wife, Hall scratched of the ticket. At first, he misread the numbers.

Hall explained, “I sat there scratching and listening to the TV in the background. Then, I see that I matched a number and I was happy to see it was $10,000. When I realized I misread the number, I almost jumped off the couch!”

Hall had won the $100,000 jackpot.

Hall and his wife, parents of four boys and a baby girl on the way, plan to use the money to pay off their debt, buy some gifts, and save for expenses related to the upcoming birth of their daughter.

Hmmmm… what are the odds?
