Just west of Tallahassee in the panhandle of Florida is a little place known as Quincy. I was passing through Quincy recently when I stumbled upon this old time Gulf gas station. It is period perfect (1950’s).
We’ve been told that the gas station was restored for the filming of the movie “Something Wild.” We question this assumption because the movie was not set in a 1950’s time period. However, we have confirmed that two gas stations in Quincy were used in filming the movie. We are not aware of any connection between the two gas stations used in the movie and this one. But, there could be. Scenes for “Something Wild” were also shot in Havana and Tallahassee, Florida.
Vintage Gulf Gas Station
In taking these pictures, I discovered inside a couple of antique vehicles, a Chevrolet truck and Ford car (I believe).
It was a neat little discovery.
If you would like to see it, you will find it on Hwy 90 east of Quincy about 20 minutes off Interstate 10. The station does not appear to be open for business, despite my wishes otherwise.
Enjoy the pictures!
