His name is Wendell Johnson, 59, and he works as a carpet installer for a local company in Brooksville, Florida. The contraption you see in the video makes an annual appearance in Daytona during “Bike Week” most every year and people know him as Boatbilly.
The Real Boatbilly
When I moved to Florida, Wendell was one of the first individuals I met. One thing most people don’t know about Wendell is he used to be a Roadie for a famous country singer. Oh, the stories he can tell. He has a lot of interesting stories, if you take the time to talk to him. Stories just as interesting as his Boat-Car. Maybe even more interesting.
So, if you see Wendell out and about — strike up a conversation. You might be surprised what you learn.
